The Print Studio & Gallery, La Maldita Estampa is a space for production, research, training and dissemination of contemporary graphics; it is self-managed by artists, created with the aim of supporting other artists. Because they know the importance of educating about graphics and its creative processes, the need to create alternative production spaces; our aim is that graphics reacWhes a greater number of people, and is given the importance that other artistic disciplines have.

They create the right conditions to receive national and international artists in Barcelona, with our Artistic Residencies programme; in this way they encourage cultural tourism, which invites the visiting artist to enter and interact with local art and culture. They know that in these spaces links, exchanges, and points of a union are established that enrich the creative work in the community. The gallery is a space open to receive new ideas, and fresh and innovative exhibition projects. They work with national and international artists, support young and emerging artists. They hold monthly exhibitions, each of which brings its own character and identity; in this way they make the space more dynamic by welcoming visitors, opening a dialogue between the artist and the public.

 La Maldita Estampa creates the opportunity and the right conditions to host international artists in Barcelona (Spain) with its Artists in Residence programme, offering its space formed by a fully equipped workshop and its gallery, an ideal place for the diffusion and promotion of the work of the resident artists. Their aim is to offer resident artists the resources, support and guidance necessary for the optimal development of their projects. To make the artist feel as if they were in their own studio, working freely, developing, experimenting, researching and achieving the highest quality as a final result. In short, to make their stay a fun, rewarding and productive experience.

They have a completely new and fully equipped space, with the necessary infrastructure for the development of activities related to the world of printmaking. A production workshop of more than 90 square metres and a gallery of more than 30 square metres.

Studio Information

You will have access to all the facilities, a total of 120 m2, and all the necessary equipment to develop your project, be it engraving, lithography, photo engraving, among others.

Accommodation Information

Accommodation is not offered. They help artists to find a comfortable place that suits their needs. Their network of friends and local artists can host visiting artists in their flats, for an economical price.

Technical Information

Techniques in which they are specialised: Direct Techniques: Burin, Drypoint, Mezzotint, engraving, Carborundum, Monotype, Engraving, Collagraph, Relief printing. Indirect Techniques: Aquatint, Sugar engraving, Soft ground, Hard varnish, Photoengraving, Mixography, Lithography on plate, Screen printing, Mokulito (Japanese lithography). The artists will have permanent support and guidance for the successful development of their projects.

They are located in the heart of Barcelona (Spain) at 112 Aragón Street, a cosmopolitan neighbourhood surrounded by beautiful modernist architecture.
