FiraTàrrega's Suport a la Creació
FiraTàrrega was born in 1981 thanks to the initiative of the then Mayor of Tarrega, Eugeni Nadal, and as the result of a confluence of ideas: that of converting the town's local festival into a grand fiesta; encouraging the people to take part and get involved and put the whole town to the service of a concrete project, in this case, for the theatre. To carry out this project, Nadal had, from the outset, the complicity of Xavier Fàbregas, Head of Servei de Cinematografia i Teatre at the Generalitat de Catalunya and Joan Font, director of Comediants.
FiraTàrrega's Suport a la Creació (Support for Creation) programme for accompanying processes of stage creation is designed for the production, display and distribution of shows with special attention to street arts and/or non-conventional proposals.
Each year, FiraTàrrega selects projects through this call. The chosen projects become co-productions of FiraTàrrega and a calendar of residencies is agreed upon. These take place in Tàrrega and/or other residences working on creation with FiraTàrrega.
The projects presented are categorised into one of the following options:
- Anuals: Proposals with a calendar of creation that will enable them to be premiered at FiraTàrrega 2024.
- Guaret. Proposals that do not conform to such a short timetable and include processes of research, reflection and rehearsal. The premiere of these will be at FiraTàrrega 2025.
The programme offers the companies the possibility of holding an open rehearsal in the town to test the venue, the participation and/or reception of the audience.
Once the creation process is complete, the co-productions will be performed at FiraTàrrega (in September).
