Mapping Residencies #2: Networks (2015)

With this second issue of Mapping Residencies magazine, the aim is to reopen the debate on what it means to work in a network within the field of art production: what is it that makes them effective? How can they generate increased artistic and social impact? Moreover, to what extent does the artist’s need to establish contact networks tally with his/her work in the studio? How to affect the creation process and the artistic validation system?

The magazine features articles, interviews and a discussion forum that offer an extensive range of views. Some of these are optimistic while others challenge or criticise the raison d’être and the workings of a network devoted to art creation and the meaning of the word “networking” within the contemporary art system. DutchCulture | TransArtists is very happy to be presented in the publication!

There is a small contribution necessary to access this publication (which is invested in taking this project forward): 2 euros for the online version and 12 euros for the offline. Read more on mappingresidencies.org.

ON-AiR: Reflecting on the mobility of artists in Europe (2012)

The ON-AiR book was published at the end of the two-years European funded project ON-AiR. Read more about the project here.

An Editorial Team consisting of 18 mobility experts from the different regions of Europe, all working as partners in ON-AiR, proposed 10 topics or thoughts for a more in-depth approach. Ten essays by authors from across Europe are the result. The content and format of the essays differ enormously: varying from a letter written to a Resident Artist, to an examination of the much-discussed ‘brain drain’ phenomenon in Eastern Europe, to drawings from a pirate rabbit reflecting on mobility.

All ON-AiR partners are very happy to make this publication available for all to download for free in pdf. If you are interestd in purchasing a printed copy, please visit this page.
