Description
Suceava Art Residency is a traditional Bukovina province ex-farm of 22,000 meters square that now is getting converted into an artist retreat. It is located in a quiet area of Suceava, that is the main city of Romanian Bukovina province and is run by members of Artfest Cultural Association (NGO) and Zidul de Hartie art group. It also works as cultural hub for local artists and writers and for small summer art projects and concerts. It is still a rustique place, near a forest. In the big garden there are growing all kind of fruit and forest trees. In the middle of it there is a lake where you can relax, work or get in touch with nature. The farm is still running partly, growing small parcels of organic vegetables, corn and potatoes and some chickens. You also can learn traditional ways of farming and gardening.
Outcome
Promoting arts and culture and Bucowina region, facilitate interaction between residents and local artists. They may arrange your exhibition or event during the residency.
Studio Information
A large space as studio can be arranged in the old barn. Basic working tools are available there.
Accommodation Information
It can accommodate 3-4 guests at a time. In the main house you may stay in a two room apartment with kitchen, bathroom and terrace and in the fruit garden in a small new wood house with lake view (a room, bathroom, kitchenette and open terrace).
Location
The house that belonged to local Gavril Cacina painter is placed in a quiet downtown street of Vatra Dornei, close to a forest on a mountain moderate slope but also in walking distance to downtown (5-10 minutes), to the central park, restaurants, supermarket, the open local market, ATMs&banks and train station). The residency is set up on the upper floor, a 100 meters square apartment with all regular facilities and Wi-Fi.
