Writers' House Jyväskylä
Writers' House Jyväskylä
Writers' Association of Central Finland (Keski-Suomen Kirjailijat ry) is a not-for-profit organisation founded in 1962. The main goals are to preserve literature in Central Finland and to uphold and develop it forward. They want to bring literature, poetry and other art forms close to people, while bringing people who are interested in literature together.
Writers' House is a three-story wooden building designed by the architect Wiwi Lönn and built in 1906. The house is located in Finland, in the city centre of Jyväskylä, right next to the beautiful and historical campus of University of Jyväskylä.
Writers’ House is known for its communal residency. The House has four residency rooms that can be applied to by anyone working with literature, prioritizing writers that have a convincing plan of work. However, if there are available rooms, they can be rented to other artists as well.
There are no separate studio rooms, but a communal library room and other working spaces in the house.
