Description

The Vitral Residency is an artist residency program developed by Galería Vitral, located at Presa 97, Guanajuato,
Mexico, which seeks to offer artists a space to develop a creative project within a local cultural and artistic context.

The residency combines lodging, workspace, mentorship, and connections to the cultural environment, allowing
artists to develop their projects during a set period and providing them with the opportunity to share their process
or results with the public through Galería Vitral.
The program aims to foster an exchange between the artist-in-residence, the local community, and Guanajuato’s
cultural ecosystem.

Outcome

Objective of the residency: To create an artist residency in Guanajuato that enables artists to develop creative
projects in an environment of cultural exchange, providing them with lodging, workspace, mentorship, and
connections to the local artistic and cultural scene.
Disciplines covered: Visual arts, photography, film, design, illustration, sculpture*
*Depending on the type of project and materials used.

Accommodation Information

The artist will be provided with accommodations for the duration of the residency at a property located on Paseo de
la Presa, near the workspace.

• The space consists of one double bedroom. (No pets.) / Cost per additional person: 2,000 MXN. (The space

Studio Information

During their residency, the artist will have access to a workspace within the Presa 97 facilities, designated for the
development of their project.

Hours of operation: 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The artist must keep the space clean and in good condition throughout the residency.
Use of the studio is subject to the space’s characteristics and limitations. The use of materials or procedures that
may pose a risk to people, the facilities, or the building is not permitted.
If special materials, tools, or processes are required, they must be authorized in advance by the residency
coordinators.

The La Presa neighborhood is one of the most attractive areas in the city of Guanajuato; its history, buildings, dam, gardens, and shops make it an excellent place to thrive in any field. The workspace is located inside an iconic house with over 100 years of history, and accommodations are just a few steps away. It is a very safe zone. The location is very close to downtown and can be reached on foot, by bus, or by taxi if you prefer.
