Vermont Studio Center
Founded by artists in 1984, Vermont Studio Center (VSC) has fostered creativity through community, collaboration, and quiet reflection during in-person residency for thousands of visual artists and writers from across the globe. The center aims to build an international creative community that supports artists and writers by providing them with a distraction-free studio space, and the companionship of professional peers. Residents receive individual studios, private rooms, and all meals, plus access to prominent Visiting Artists and Writers offering slide talks, readings, and studio visits.
Private studio spaces with ample light, for 2d & 3d artists, and writers.
Private accommodations with private bathroom, separate from studio spaces, all within walking distance of downtown Johnson.
VSC has a well-equipped wood and metal shop including MIG, TIG, Oxy-Acetylene, metal band saw, wood band saw, table saw, radial-arm miter saw, pneumatic tools for wood and stone carving, and a full array of power and hand tools. Additionally, there are two kilns, two printmaking presses, and a digital lab.
