Description

For 15 years, the non-institutional, self-organized project has been awarding the freiraum scholarship and has welcomed 80 artists from all over the world to the residency.

They offer two formats:

  • Index freiraum RESIDENCY is a two month stay for research or smaller productions.
  • COLLAB is 3 month and promotes collaboration between local and visiting artists.

They support all guests with a contribution toward living expenses and materials.

Outcome

Both formats conclude with a public presentation.
For COLLAB interest in site-specific work is fundamental to the application (e.g., on-site theater performance; intervention in the rooms; reading; video production).

Accommodation Information

RESIDENCY: 1 room in Zurich Albisrieden, double bed (140 cm) including bed linen, work table (150 cm x 80 cm), reading corner with armchair and side table, cupboard, high-speed Internet, fully equipped shared kitchen, shared bathroom with shower, bookshelf with a selection of novels, essays, and art books, bicycle.
COLLAB: Three-room apartment with kitchen located on Rosenweg in Zollikon a neighboring municipality of the city of Zurich.

Studio Information

RESIDENCY: Studio and sleeping are in the same room.
COLLAB: 3 rooms, one for sleeping, one as a studio, one for presentation.
