Description
The Gjutars artist residency in the city of Vantaa in southern Finland offers the opportunity for residency work, where artists can get to know and develop their artistic practice, collaborate with locals, and be inspired by the surrounding environment. Art professionals such as artists and curators are welcome to apply for the Air Gjutars residency program.
The residency program is aimed at visual artists, but other artists can also apply for residency. Artists can apply for residency in the following months: January, February, March, October, November, and December. The months you apply for the residency may vary, therefore you should ask the residency committee for the most up-to-date information. Gjutars Artist Residence strives for sustainability, environmental friendliness, and accessibility in all its activities.
Outcome
Artists can keep small-scale exhibitions (1 or 2 days) or alternatively small presentations (artist talk) but no exhibition or performance is required at the end of the residency period.
Studio Information
The studio has the following: worktable, easel, running water. The studio can also accommodate a guest for a short-term period (there is a convertible sofa). The artists must bring their own materials and equipment.
Accommodation Information
The Gjutars residence apartment is on the second floor of the house and it includes a room, small kitchen, bathroom and a balcony. The apartment is equipped with tableware, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, oven, washing machine, TV, radio and bed linen and has an internet connection. Together the apartment and the studio are approximately 35 m2 in size.
Location
Gjutars-Residence is located near the river in an idyllic area rich in culture and tradition. It is a short distance to the center of Tikkurila and to the train station, which has connections to Helsinki and the airport.
