Description

Vacances Arts Nature is a Canadian summer arts school founded in 2012 and based in the Eastern Townships of Québec, Canada. The organization offers intensive, hands-on workshops for adults in visual arts, fine crafts, writing, and a variety of other creative endeavours. Programs are led by established professional artists and emphasize creative exploration, skill development, and meaningful exchange.

In collaboration with the Collège François-Delaplace (CFD), Vacances Arts Nature (VAN) is launching a call for applications for its brand-new artist-in-residence program, Création et transmission (Creation and Knowledge Sharing), offered as part of the College’s Multi-Arts Option.

These creation and teaching residencies are intended for artists who wish to develop a personal project while sharing their artistic approach and expertise with high school students.

Selected artists are provided with a dedicated studio space, accommodation, and most meals, within the College itself, located in the charming town of Waterville. In return, artists commit to leading workshops for students who are enrolled in the arts program and supervising studio sessions.

Outcome

The production of a final artwork is not mandatory. Artists-in-residence are expected to participate in an end-of-residency exhibition presented jointly with the students, to which the wider community is invited. In addition, the artist is required to take part in the evaluation of students’ work, using a simple assessment framework provided by the College.

Accommodation Information

Artists-in-residence are provided with a private room in the Collège François-Delaplace, equipped with a refrigerator and a microwave. Complimentary meals are provided at the school cafeteria from Monday to Friday (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), except for Friday dinner and on school holidays. Artists also have access to on-site laundry facilities during evenings and weekends.

Studio Information

Artists-in-residence have access to a dedicated studio space of almost 500 square feet (46 m²), located in the Collège François-Delaplace and accessible 24/7. The studio is equipped with essential furniture and facilities, including a large sink, work tables, easels, and storage space.
