They invite artists from diverse disciplines to stay and create on Teshima, a small island in Japan’s Seto Inland Sea internationally known for its art museums and natural beauty.

They provide a quiet, rural setting where artists can focus on their creative work while experiencing everyday island life and engaging with the local community. The island retains strong elements of traditional Japanese culture, including food, farming, and communal living.
Artists are especially encouraged to connect with local residents—such as by offering workshops for children or sharing food from their home country in the open kitchen space. These small acts of exchange help build mutual understanding and trust across cultures.
Whenever possible, artists are asked to share the outcome of their stay through a small exhibition or presentation in the exhibision space at the end of their residency.

The programme is flexible and human-scale, welcoming artists who value time, slowness, and the interweaving of art and life. Families and collaborative groups are also welcome.
