All travel, food, and accommodation will be covered by the residency, along with a budget to cover materials and shipping (if applicable).
The awardee will receive a stipend of $5,000 (CAD) in addition to the covered costs.

Any additional persons (spouse or children) are welcome, but the budget will not adjust to cover their expenses.

Any costs that are over stipends for additional guests. Any additional materials or shipping that aren't covered within the budget (the budget is generous for these costs).

Description

This Residency is for artists and scholars seeking space to focus on creating a work for exhibition or publication that is in some way informed by their investigation of Jeffrey Rubinoff’s work and their experience working at the sculpture park. The successful applicant will enjoy a September-October residency at the Jeffrey Rubinoff Sculpture Park (for 2 – 5 weeks) with an additional one week at University of Victoria to engage with the Faculty of Fine Arts faculty and students.

Outcome

When applying, the applicant must submit a plan for an exhibition (on Hornby or Victoria, BC), publication submission, research report, or the performance of their work to be realized within 18 months following the residency. The awardee will, if asked, hold a show and/or reception or talk at the JRSP at the end of the Hornby-based portion of the residency to present their project. They will also give a lecture at UVIC during the Victoria-based portion of the residency related to their project (this may involve an exhibition if applicable).

Accommodation Information

The accommodation is a private BNB suite located near the sculpture park, and a hotel room in Victoria. Accommodation costs are covered by the Residency.

Studio Information

The awardee will have access to the following on-site facilities: library, Interpretive Center, studio, the Park itself.
