thankyouforcoming
thankyouforcoming operates as a platform to devise, produce and mediate art projects, connecting art, society and publics. Through a close collaboration with artists, art critics and curators, thankyouforcoming offers a space for exchange and dialogue, bringing together contemporary art projects and different audiences. thankyouforcoming federates and connects national and international art world professionals with the whole set of networks, knowledge, skills and appetites that pervades the French Riviera. Today the region, ripe with a rich history of arts and a world-renown heritage, is being updated and invigorated by the diversity of its contemporary art scene.
Since 2015, with that same idea of supporting research and networking in the visual arts world, thankyouforcoming has been running ACROSS, an innovative art critic/curator short residency program developed out of Nice on the French Riviera. It aims at supporting the emergence and renewal of critical and curatorial practices, through field research and exploration. This residency provides participants with a customised program and a privileged opportunity to get to know better contemporary art professionals on the French Riviera. ACROSS in turn facilitates the local artists’ international mobility, functionning as a support and development organisation to the benefit of said visual artists.
Engaged within contemporary visual arts field, this project considers art critic as a tool for collective thinking, and mobility in the cultural area as a specific way and medium for professionalization. The program has been created for professional art critics and curators who are specifically involved in a research area related to the emergence and renewal/development of critical and curatorial practices.
ACROSS enables the guests to develop an ongoing research, to nurture an exhibition/writing project and to discover the artistic scene of a given territory. It also guarantees the French Riviera-based contemporary artists an opportunity of high quality highlight, at a national and international level. By creating opportunities for meetings, this program initiates and enables an environment for exchanges and discussions to foster common experiments between people and venues from various disciplinary fields, cities, regions and countries.
ACROSS also helps bring awareness to the general public on professions that are not quite identified, and offers a new access to the contemporary art world.
