Story VIlla is situated in middle of eastern Finnish countryside in peaceful Heinävaara village. During last century the house was a village school, after that it was for twenty years a home and studio for an artist. Today it is an open residency for artists from all over the world. Under the roof of this cozy house there is about 350 m2 space. Each artist has a bedroom of their own (either downstairs or upstairs) and the shared common areas as living room, kitchen and sauna (downstairs). The bedrooms are different sizes. The largest bedroom comfortably accommodates even a small family.
Two big studios are downstairs. Three toilets, one shower upstairs, one downstairs and washing machine downstairs. There’s effective wifi in the residency. Small library is available in the living room. Bed linen and towels are supplied. There are bicycles available for residents to use. During the summer, the garden offers flowers, berries, fruits and shady resting spots beneath the foliage.
In winter, the landscape turns white with snow, which may surprise those unfamiliar with a genuine frosty winter.
The residency hosts are living at the neighbouring house. They are happy to help when needed.
