Spiro Arts
Organized in 2007, Spiro Arts is a summer Artist-in-Residence (AIR), workshop program and cultural center. Spiro Art's AIR program grants artists the opportunity to live and work as part of a creative community. The AIR sessions run from April through July each year, featuring artists selected from an applicant pool working in a variety of genres and mediums. Spiro Arts requires that applicants be prepared to engage the public during our Open Studio events. Spiro Arts is dedicated to supporting artists, researchers, writers, and composers in the creation of new works by offering an environment that promotes risk-taking and innovation. Residency terms are approximately six weeks long with 4-5 participants per term. These residencies are fully subsidized live and work spaces. A $600.00 stipend is awarded to defray the cost of food, materials and travel.
In collaboration with Park City Mountain Resort Spiro Arts Artists in Residence will work in a semi-private studio building located within the resorts plaza. The studio is a low-tech and non-equipment-based facility, though basic equipment such as large easels, taborets, and worktables are available.
Resident accommodations are newly built deluxe shared condo's (private room/bath) in close walking distance to the studio building (bus accessible), which include: hardwood floors, wool carpet, queen size bed with linens/blankets, fully equipped kitchens, granite countertops, and cable TV. All residents are responsible for their own meals, transportation to grocery stores, cleaning, and removal of trash/recyclables. There is no smoking in the living areas, as well as in the studios. Pets and guests are not permitted to stay with you during your residency. Other facilities include on-site coin-operated laundry, workout room with access to a pool/hot tub, the Silver Star Cafe, Silver Star Ski & Sport (bike and ski rental shop). WiFi is available in most areas.
