Honoraria: Each resident will receive a financial award of €2,000 as honoraria (€1,000 per phase). Applicable taxes and withholdings will be applied to these amounts.

Travel expenses: Up to €330 (€165 per phase) for participants from Spain and up to €770 (€385 per phase) for participants from other European countries. The foundation will purchase flights on behalf of the artists.

Production expenses:
• Artists: up to €3,000 for production and public presentation, including transportation of work if necessary. Additionally, the Foundation will cover up to €500 for installation costs related to the final public presentation, and up to €900 for other costs associated with the public activities.
• Curators: the Foundation will cover up to €900 for costs associated with the public activities and final presentation of the project developed during the residency.

Payments:
The honoraria corresponding to each phase of the residency will be paid in two installments: 50% at the start and 50% at the end of each stay on the island, upon submission of the corresponding invoices. The production allowance will be paid in 2026, once the final report is submitted, along with invoices and receipts. Advances may be considered depending on the needs of each project.

Ses Dotze Naus (the twelve vessels in Ibicencan) was created to foster and develop contemporary culture on Ibiza with a strong international profile. Our name is metaphor for the artists as vessels we bring to Ibiza to interact with the island, contribute ideas, and create cultural and social value.

The Ses Dotze Naus Foundation develops artists’ residencies, exhibitions and public programs; contributing to the island as a place for creation, production and enjoyment of contemporary art. The foundation brings artists and thinkers to research and produce projects within the context of Ibiza, its narratives, and its culture. La Carpintería, their space for production, exhibition and encounter is located in an active industrial area. The foundation is firmly focussed on the future of the island, always having in mind its rich heritage while embracing its global audience.

This is an open call for a two-phase residency hosted by SES DOTZE NAUS and available to: one visual artist or curator in based in the Balearic Islands; and two visual artists or curators based in Spain or elsewhere in Europe. During the first phase of their residency, participants engage with the island through research and exploration, fostering a rich contextual understanding. The second phase invites participants to return to the island to finalize their projects: the artists will produce their works, the curators will continue their research, and both will hold public activities and present the results of the projects developed during the residency.

This framework enables participants to engage deeply with the island of Ibiza and its communities and to develop—or further expand—a project in dialogue with its context, encouraging new perspectives and ways of thinking that are inspired by the island.

The residency takes place in two locations within the municipality of Santa Eulària des Riu, a district of Ibiza: accommodation on a 30-hectare farm in the center of the island, near the town of Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera; and workspace at La Carpintería, the Foundation's center for creation located in the Can Bufí industrial area near the city of Ibiza. The centre hosts creators from various disciplines.

Outcome

The proposal may consist of carrying out a complete project, initiating a new long-term project, or continuing an ongoing investigation. The proposal should clearly explain both the overall project and the specific phase of the process intended to be carried out during each of the residency phases. The project must be the original work of the residency applicant, who must hold all intellectual property rights over it. Particular consideration will be given to projects that explore various aspects of the island of Ibiza and propose new dialogues with its international projection, imaginaries, communities, and rich cultural and natural heritage. Proposals that demonstrate how the residency on Ibiza could positively contribute to the project, as well as its potential to engage with the island and interact with local communities, will also be highly valued.

The final presentation of the project may take different formats, such as an exhibition, event, or other artistic proposals. For this, participants will have access to La Carpintería—SES DOTZE NAUS’ exhibition and creation space—or other possible island locations to be decided in advance with the Foundation’s direction based on the project’s characteristics.

Applicants are expected to include a public activity in each phase of the residency. These activities will be linked to the research or production processes, or the final presentation of the project, with flexibility in content and format: talks, workshops, etc.

Accommodation Information

The residency takes place within the municipality of Santa Eulària des Riu, a district of Ibiza. The accommodation take places on a 30-hectare farm in the center of the island, near the town of Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera. The resident will be hosted in one private room in an apartment located on the property. The apartment has 2 bedrooms each with its own private bathroom and independent access from the garden. Shared kitchen and living room.

Studio Information

Workspace at La Carpintería, the Foundation's center for creation located in the Can Bufí industrial area near the city of Ibiza. The centre hosts creators from various disciplines.

Technical Information

Dimensions and furniture will be defined according to the needs of the project. Technical resources available include projectors, speakers, machinery, tools, and other equipment.

Resources: SES DOTZE NAUS Foundation will also provide the selected candidates with the following resources:

• Production assistance : to cover any potential needs for the public activities and presentations.
• Travel: vehicle at your disposal throughout your stay.
• Airport transfers.

Support and guidance: The Foundation team will also offer support and guidance throughout the residency, sharing its knowledge of the island, facilitating connections with individuals, organizations, or local projects relevant to the work, and organizing informal meetings, among other forms of assistance.
