
Serde
SERDE is a non-governmental organization, which seeks to develop the regional and international collaboration between different cultural fields, organizations and professionals. SERDE’s activities create dialogue between art, science and education, which includes organizing residencies, workshops, expeditions and publishing thematic notebooks, among other things.
The Residency and workshop center SERDE was founded in Aizpute during 2002 as a platform for international and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Our aim is to encourage professional's creative development and long-term cooperation through participation in residency programs.
The residency center offers good facilities for creative work and rest. During the residence the guest is welcome to give a presentation or lecture for professionals and local audience.
In 2016 SERDE was accredited by the UNESCO General Assembly of the States Parties to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage to provide advisory services to the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
2022 Open Call
4 weeks: 13th of June to 10th of July 2022

SERDE is looking for artists and creators who are professionals in their field and are able to work independently and produce their work in unusual circumstances, and are open for cooperation with local audience.
Priorities will be given to the applicants who are interested to explore the local environment - ecosystems, traditions, cultural heritage, traditional food, skills or propose ideas for sustainable development in rural area.
Open studio event or presentation.
SERDE offer accommodation and working facilities in one of the oldest historical buildings in the town. The house complex is preserved using environmentally-friendly materials and historical building technologies. The residency rooms and workshops are located in 2 separate buildings.

The residencies center is located in the historical center of Aizpute (~180 km from capital city Riga, 30 km from Baltic sea-coast) and the building complex is unique example of wooden and red bricks architecture in Latvia built on 18th century.
