Sarpdere Atelier
Sarpdere Atelier invites artists to experience sustainability and artistic freedom in a natural place. The organisers of this residency are an artist and architect couple who also like ecology and sustainable living. They moved to the village from Istanbul 6 years ago, and in that period their atelier has been open to guests who want to work there through the work away network and local volunteers. They had guests from many countries around the world and worked together in their garden, kitchen, or in their atelier. They have hosted more than 20 people as students and volunteers up until now.
They believe artists should be free about their program and the artist themselves can decide if they want to create, think, process, start or not start, inspire and maybe share knowledge, or experience the artsy ecological life in the village. If the artists want to spend time with the hosts they can also share their meal sessions or coffee breaks.
They have a total of 270 m2 of indoor area for the residential library, studio, and workshop. Besides the indoor spaces, there are 3.000 m2 of open spaces with a garden, grove, and fish pools. The garden can also be used for practice and production.
