Description

Rüki residency supports the resident's slow paced creativity and focuses on individual art practice. Sufficient isolation takes down the pressure to produce a specific result, such as works for exhibition. The purpose of staying in a residency may also be simply to shift the routine. Thus, the artist is free to create a similar atmosphere to their studio, but in a different environment.

Residents can also have conversations with the public in the Rüki Gallery premises to exchange thoughts that have arisen during the residency, use the opportunity to integrate ideas with the people of the Viljandi Culture Academy and Viljandi Art School, or go to discover the Kondas Centre of outsider arts.

Studio Information

The studio is a spacious room with lots of natural light. Since the residency is in the same building as Rüki Gallery, it is also possible to use the gallery, under the condition that the gallery room is free at that moment. Additional possibilities: cooperation with Viljandi Culture Academy (metal work, native crafts, performing arts, music, etc.), Kondas Centre (a rich collection of outsider art), Viljandi Art School and other institutions operating in Viljandi County.

Accommodation Information

Rüki Residency provides a private furnished apartment and atelier area connected to the aforementioned apartment. In the apartment, there is a kitchen, shower room, a separate toilet, office space and a bedroom. Residents just need to grab their essential belongings and art equipment with them, everything else is provided by the residency.
