Relais de Camont
Relais de Camont is independently owned and run by the host Kate Hill, a culinary writer who has lived in this pocket of South-West France for the past 35 years. Kate now opens the pigeonnier, a private part of her 18th-century farmhouse, as a contemporary writers' retreat and creative residency for those seeking a less structured yet productive environment.
Conceived as a writer’s retreat, a quiet place to create. A place to work, from developing an idea that's been swirling around to the completion of a project. Other artistic disciplines are welcome that fit the spaces and nature of Camont. The programme is open to creatives for their nominated period of time, with a minimum of two-week stays. The residency is made up of two private rooms each with its own en-suite bathrooms and dedicated quiet working spaces and a large fully-equipped kitchen with a fire to light as the sun comes up or goes down. Communal spaces to gather in or retreat to include the kitchen, the sitting room home to comfortable armchairs and piles of books opening onto a large garden just outside the door, with endless places to sit and work during the warmer months. Outside time, including picking from the potager and herb gardens, is a bonus to those in the food arts, as are weekly markets and visits to local producers.
Each room includes a writing desk and all residents have access to communal working spaces throughout the property.
Comfortable bedrooms, with private bathrooms and a working desk.
Wi-fi and heating provided.
