Ras de Terra
Ras de Terra
Ras de Terra (acronym for Artistic Rehabilitation of Tobacco Dryers) was created with the aim of revaluing local culture and sustainable environmental practices through organic farming and community cultural projects, thereby positively impacting its location in the La Vera de Cáceres region, Spain.
The Ras de Terra Center is a partner of the New European Bauhaus, a fundamental pillar of the Next Generation EU plan, fitting into the new cultural models developing in rural areas.
Since 2020, it has been operating as a cultural center, a residence for creatives, and a cultural producer of initiatives such as artistic workshops or even opera performances in rural environments.
Ras de Terra Artistic Residencies are born as a creative space within the rural context, responding to the need to decentralize culture, fostering dialogue, and bringing contemporary creation closer through a local experience, creating spaces for coexistence through culture.
The chosen space for this initiative is a former tobacco drying facility, an identity symbol of the region, completely rehabilitated and modernized with the intention of creating an interconnected space with a proposal for agricultural development on the land and artistic practice and research.
Artists will have the opportunity to organize an open studio or an exhibition (no mandatory) to show their residency project.
Ras de Terra has 5 rooms (for individual or double use) with private bathrooms, two kitchens, and two living rooms.
Ras de Terra provide a 150 square mt shared studio located at the ground floor.
