The artistic community in Pragovka began to emerge at the turn of 2010 and 2011. By then the first artists began to move in an abandoned industrial area with their studios. Soon a lively artistic community emerged organically and started to organise first exhibitions and open studios. At the end of the year 2017, several local artists founded the Pragovka for Art association, which built on the ongoing activities of the community.

The main driver of the art scene in Pragovka is Pragovka Gallery, which is run by the association. In addition to an international exhibition programme, it organises a residency programme for Czech and foreign artists, an educational programme, supports the art community in Pragovka and is behind successful events such as the popular ArtFér and the summer cinema.

The pilot project of international residencies at Pragovka Gallery was launched in 2021. Since then, more than a dozen artists have taken up residencies in the studios, presenting their work in exhibitions and in Pragovka's public space.
