Paid by artist:
  • Artists are required to finish the creation plan before the residency periods.
  • At least one project from the resident should be left in Pier 2 Art Center, by mutual consent, before the residency period expires.
  • Artist are required to finish the communication and cooperation plan during the residency period (workshop, academic exchange, education programs, community empowerment, etc.).
  • Foreign artists are required to pay USD/ Euro 100 as the deposit. Local artists are required to pay NTD 3,000 as the deposit. The deposit will be given back to artists after they fulfill their residency project and procedure of checking out.

Pier-2 Art Center is located in the southern corner of Taiwan, Kaohsiung. As a cluster of old warehouses next to Kaohsiung Harbor, Pier-2 Art Center positions itself as an artistic, diverse, experimental, creative space which is open to any kind of possibilities. It is a cross-domain art center which includes visual art, music, drama, culture and creativity, film, and entertainment.
A 33-square-meter creation space (including a bathroom) and a 17-square-meter attic that will serve as a living space will be available for resident artists to create artwork, so as to revive Pier-2 and establish a platform for art and cultural exchanges and performances.

Studio Information

Pier-2 Art Center provides every artist with a studio (living space included) which can be used for creation, exhibitions, accommodation, and communication. A 2-floor studio is 33 square meters and divided into two parts:

  • 1st floor is for working, exhibitions and communication (restroom included).
  • 2nd floor is for accommodation space (about 17 square meters). A studio can hold at maximum of 2 artists. Air-conditioner, fire facility, an electric water boiler, a refrigerator, a bed, some storage cabinets and other basic facilities are included. Artists are able to use washing machine in Common Space to do the laundry.
Accommodation Information

Most parts of warehouses’ original appearance are mainly kept and go with simple and modern architectural style. There is a Common Space (lounge) near artists' studios. This place can be used for artists’ communication, meetings, and exhibition promotion. The kitchen is also inside the Common Space where artists coming from different parts of the world cook and enjoy cultural exchange among each other. Refrigerator, microwave, electric stove, cooking utensils, and tableware are all included.
