Description

Nordingrå Konstby is located in the High Coast of Sweden. The High Coast and Nordingrå in particular, have a long history of art and are known for the numerous artists that have made it their inspiration and home. Nordingrå Konstby offers a meeting hub for artists, artisans and lovers of art and culture and aims to be a sustainable place to work within, for the artist and within the arts.

At their premises you can experience and create art, meet and learn from artists and artisans in their own atmosphere, work in our coworking offices. They have a gallery, an art shop and a café that are open seasonally and for events. Accommodation is available for artist residencies and for our members when working in our art village. You can also book a place in their studios for your own creating and production. Nordingrå Konstnärsverkstad, an artist-run organisation, resides in their houses, with studios for letterpress, printmaking, enamel and tufting.

Nordingrå Konstby Artists’ Residency is open to professional artists of all disciplines, who wish to stay with them and work in the studios. As part of your residency you will have your own generously sized bedroom and your own work studio of approximately 20 m2. Your accommodation and work studio are located in buildings where other professional artists work and have their studios. The objective of the residency is to provide the artist a serene environment for creativity and production, in inspiring and beautiful surroundings.

Outcome

There is no production or presentation requirement for the residency, however presentations or exhibitions can be organised at the request of and in collaboration with the resident. The artist will be invited to summarise and discuss the residency and its effect on the artist’s work.

Studio Information

Each studio is approximately 20 m2 with generous light flow, table and chairs. They request that residents contact us prior to their arrival to discuss any requests that they may have for the studio set up, so that they can prepare the studios as much as possible for their arrival.

Accommodation Information

There are two residency options:

  • A spacious private bedroom with a double bed, wardrobes and a desk, with its own kettle and microwave and access to a shared, fully contained kitchen, fireplace and shared bathroom. Your own part of a shared work studio of approximately 40m2 with a generous light flow.
  • A private studio apartment with a spacious bedroom containing a double bed and a fully equipped kitchen. Your own work studio of 22 m2 with a table, chair, shelves and a fireplace. You will have your own WC and a basic shower is available close to the apartment.
