Description

TRANSLATORIUM is a Ukrainian NGO that works with translators and for the translation community, and creates a platform for the intersection of various arts and media. They organize residencies, art projects,
and an eponymous festival.

BAZHAN residency is a residency program for poets and poetry translators in Kamianets-Podilskyi founded and implemented by the NGO TRANSLATORIUM. Named after the Ukrainian futurist poet and translator Mykola Bazhan, who was born there, the residency offers a comfortable space for living and creative work.

Residents receive per diems and work on their individual poetry projects: writing and translating poetry, compiling a poetry collection, creating video poetry, etc. Founded in 2023, the residency has already had two summer editions (June-September). Due to the lack of permanent funding, the residency is not a year-round program, but it is planned to be an annual one.

Outcome

At the end of their stay, the residents take part in a public event in the city and write an essay.

Location

The city is situated on the banks of the Smotrych River and has an extremely picturesque landscape. The canyon, fortress, and ancient churches all create an atmosphere favorable for creativity. What's more
important, in the midst of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, it's a relatively safe place.
