Description
Artist-run residency hosted by Visual artist Trond E. S Indsetviken, painter- textile art and Robert Khoury- graphic designer, bobbin lace maker. Their philosopy is to live with the nature.
Natthagen started as an art gallery in 2003 and developed into an art and culture place in 2018. There you will find a local historic museum, a small exhibition room, a little studio in the old timber barn from 1890 and a beautiful 18m2 studio with wifi. An Earth Art path was created in the woods in 2023 with Earth Art installations, where they welcome artists from around the world to participate with a project or an installation.
Natthagen AiR provides a residency programme for professional artists members of an artist union. Natthagen Air welcomes professional artists worldwide from different disciplines, and offers the opportunity for artistic production and contemplation, with few distractions and easy access to nature. The aim of the residency is to host artists for a retreat and concentrated work period in a rural area. The residents are expected to work independently. They specially welcome artists that want to do a project in the Earth Art path.
Outcome
After an discussion with the artist, Natthagen AiR invites either to a one day open studio or an artist talk where people can meet and interact with the artist.
Accommodation Information
"Gamalstu", an old timber house (1790) with a small kitchen, cooking facilities, a tiny bedroom and a sofa bed, is available for one or two artist friends. Gamalstu has electricity, a small wood oven for cosy heating, separate toilet and shower (50 meters walk). No tv and no water. You collect water from the main house.
Studio Information
There is a little studio in the barn suitable for working in smaller formats. In 2021 they built a new studio of 18 m2 with lots of natural light, and a beautiful view to the nature. There is some basic materials in the studio, pencils, colour pencils, watercolours and there is a sewing and filting machine, a small graphic press.
It is possible to use a big working table on the terrace. “Vinterstuggu”- the glass veranda- is a perfect place to sit, read or do some sketches.
Location
Situated in Julussdalen, a small valley in the municipality of Elverum, south- east of Norway, Natthagen is located in the middle of a beautiful pine forest, nearby, the historical river Julussa and the lake Ryssjøen. It is a peaceful and a quiet place, perfect to work, plan and reflect in clean nature and fresh air.
