They offer to artists:

  • Accommodation for 12 nights in a private room.
  • Amenities consisting of food and cleaning supplies for individual or general use such as coffee, tea, milk, cookies, oil, rice, etc.
  • Transfer of the group to and from the city of Santander (or its airport) on your arrival and on your departure.
  • Visit at the National Museum of Altamira, including tickets and transfers, accompanied by Andrea and Gabriel.
  • Visits, in two days, to the caves of El Pendo, Las Monedas, El Castillo and Covalanas. Includes entrance fees, transfers and lunches and the full-time guide of Andrea and Gabriel.
  • Guidance and advice in the development of your work through individual and group talks, daily visualization and monitoring of your work in progress by Andrea Juan and Gabriel Penedo Diego.

Description

The house is located in Tagle, Suances Town Hall, Cantabria, in the north of Spain, immersed in a geographical space full of human activity for many thousands of years and with an important heritage of Palaeolithic art. Altamira, Monte Castillo and Covalanas are the best-known examples of the many existing caves in the region that preserve prehistoric works of art.

The origin of art is what guides them in the residency programme, taking it as a reference for a new beginning and nature as the starting point to achieve it. Surrounded by this magic and its surroundings, residents from all disciplines of the arts will develop their projects here.

Andrea Juan and Gabriel Penedo Diego will carry out continuous monitoring and support on the evolution of your project to encourage and stimulate its development until, at the end of the residency, you have transformed it into work.

Accommodation Information

The house has three bedrooms, a full bathroom, a toilet, a kitchen-dining room, a living room, a covered outdoor studio, an exhibition room and its own green space. The stone house, an old farmhouse of more than 100 years, has been restored by them to provide all the comforts and to enjoy the environment and dedicate yourself exclusively to creating. The house is located in a natural environment 700 meters from imposing cliffs and about 1000 meters from Tagle beach. It is located 2 km from Suances and 7 km from the Altamira National Museum in Santillana del Mar.
