NADAS
NADAS is a creative house, located in Yeldeğirmeni, Kadıköy, Istanbul, founded in June 2018. The platform aims to open space for individual and community projects valuing the diversity of urban life and people’s connection to their environments. At Nadas, maximum conditions are provided for artists and their ideas to be heard, tested, and integrated; slowly, mindfully, and empathetically.
‘Nadas’a Bırak’ artists residencies programmes hosts artists from all creative mediums and stages of their carriers. Their regular week-long residency takes place in the Spring and Fall, with longer-term residencies available in-between.
During the pandemic, the program has moved mostly online, while continuing to offer private studio space to individuals and small groups. Therefore, the third edition of Nadas’a Bırak Artist Residency was hybrid in form, offering residents the opportunity to work virtually and/or in-house. Group meetings, co-working hours, artists talks, and studio sharings offer opportunities for all artists to connect with one another and the wider Nadas community, whether joining online or in-person. The residency culminated in an online exhibition and open studio event, where artists had a chance to share their experiences and works from the programme with visitors from around the world.
Overall, the residency is most suited for artists or creative individuals who seek to:
- Develop a project within a focused period of time;
- Work independently, within the support of a shared working environment;
- Present their work in an alternative community space and online exhibition;
- Incorporate sustainability and ecological practices into their work.
The residency culminates in an online exhibition and open studio event, where artists had a chance to share their experiences and works from the programme with visitors from around the world.
Please note that this residency does not include accommodation. Residents are responsible for finding and covering the cost of their own accommodation. The organization, however, can assist residents in finding places to stay.
Nadas inhabits a beautiful 1930’s house in the historic neighbourhood of Yeldeğirmeni.
