
Mokuhanga Innovation Laboratory Artist-in-Residence Program
Mokuhanga Innovation Laboratory (MI-LAB) Artist-in-Residence Program opened in 2012. It is designed for international artists, print teachers and printmakers who wish to learn Japanese mokuhanga printmaking techniques under Japanese teachers. The residency in provides an opportunity to experience the rich culture of Japan, where mokuhanga is an essential part of cultural history.
Artist residents will experience mountain culture and traditional Japanese lifestyle with friendly local people, and will have an opportunity to share those experiences with other international artists.

100 m2 shared studio (Japanese tatami room).
20 ㎡ private room (Japanese tatami room). Kitchen and bathroom will be shared with the other artists.
Woodblocks, paper, water color ink and basic material (japanese carving knives, printing brushes and barens) will be provided as necessary for production during the program. Additional costs will be charged for extra materials.
The artists reside at MI-LAB Studio/Residence near Lake Kawaguchi on a foot of Mt. Fuji located at Fuji-Kawaguchiko-cho, Yamanashi-ken, Japan.
