The May residency seeks artists documenting their contemporary life or environment with explicit intent. Residents should be able to discuss their work concisely and be able to explain their work to other professional artists. The program is designed to be an educational experience for the resident and a documentation of the interaction between the international and New Orleans arts communities.
May's live/work space is 2000sf with 17 foot tall ceilings and no columns. The space is housed inside a four story tall retired brewery built in the late 1800's. The May space has a full kitchen and bathroom and has 50-60 neighboring artists studios in the building, though they are not available through May the residency.
The studio has a full set of carpentry tools: circular saw, table saw, router, various hand tools; contact May for more information.
