Description

Maltfabrikken is a center for art, culture, business and entrepreneurship in Ebeltoft, Denmark. Translated as "The Malt Factory", Maltfabrikken is the people's factory – driven by communities, enthusiasts and passion with the desire to be a seedbed for creative development of both people and society.

Malt AIR is a funded artist residency program that focuses on networking and research. It aims to support the artistic process by giving artists time, space and opportunity for reflection and focus, in close dialogue with Danish artists and other art professionals in Denmark.

Malt AIR is a collaboration between Maltfabrikken, Art Hub Copenhagen, and The Jutland Art Academy, with strategic partners Aarhus Center for Visual Art, The House for Art and Design, and The Danish Art Workshops.
Malt AIR is supported by the Danish Art Foundation.

Outcome

There are no set outcomes for the residency - artists are not required to produce or exhibit. The focus instead is on networking and research.

The program includes public presentations, student workshops, and networking meetings. These activities are customized to suit the artists' interests and practice.

Accommodation Information

The residency is based primarily in Ebeltoft, Denmark. At Maltfabrikken, artists will be provided shared accommodations (a 4-bedroom apartment) within Villa Lundberg.

Residents will also spend one week in Copenhagen, one night in Holstebro, and possibly other short overnight visits depending on their research and interests. Accommodations for these shorter visits will vary.

Studio Information

At Maltfabrikken, each artist is provided their own studio with a larger, shared work space in Villa Lundberg (downstairs from the apartment). They will also have access to shared workshop facilities in the surrounding buildings.
