Description

Maajaam is a farm for art and tech situated in South of Estonia. It is is concentrated on researching of, experimenting with and reflecting on the relationships between people, technology and nature. Substituting the urban environment with a hilly rural landscape allows us to observe technology in it’s pure form. Mixing the past technological wonders of the historical farm with present day hi-tech offers us a shift in perspective. This perspective is projected through the prism of art.

The artist-in-residency program, which started in 2013, is open for artists, designers, film-makers, sound artists, musicians, writers, etc. who want to get out of town and spend some focused time for themselves or their projects.

Wild Bits is an exhibition concept that proposes a temporary art park in the wilderness. The exhibition explores converging points of people, technology and nature. The technological art installation consisting of sounds, lights, texts, sculptures or online counterparts are placed in natural spaces like forests, fields, swamps and lakes.

The exhibitions are organized by a group of artists and curators connected to Maajaam farm for art and tech.

Wild Bits 2022 Open Call

Outcome

With this open call Maajaam is seeking proposals for installations, interventions or processes to be installed/performed in landscapes spread out around Maajaam that explore the human condition in a contemporary technological society. The artworks should withstand outdoor conditions.

The produced works will remain in Maajaam and will be displayed on satellite exhibitions in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania until 2025. This is the first of multiple open calls to find works for Wild Bits exhibitions during 2022 - 2025.
