Lucy Art Residency
Lucy Art Residency is a program that offers the opportunity for an artist based in Europe or the Mediterranean, whose main practice is photography focused to spend two weeks in Kavala, Greece. It is free to apply and the selected artist will have the opportunity to live and work in the coastal city in the north of Greece with transportation, accommodation and subsistence covered. The residency is open to emerging visual artists resident in one of the following countries:
Albania, Algeria, Andorra, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Lebanon, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, FYROM, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Palestine, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Syria, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine and the UK.
Please note that if the country of origin of the artist is not part of the EU/EEA then he or she will be responsible for securing the travel documents required to enter and stay in Greece during the period of the residency.
Applying with a project is not a requirement. The concept of the residency is the offer and exploration of free time. Therefore the artist statement is a way to introduce oneself and their praxis to the Jurors and the letter of intent will explain why you would be very eager to have two weeks of free time and how this might help you with your praxis now. Of course if you would like to use the residency as an opportunity to continue a project, or start a new one in Kavala the organisers would never discourage you from doing so!
The residency includes accommodation in a private room in the five-star hotel Lucy, breakfast and two daily meals in the hotel's restaurant.
Here you can read more about the project from Almudena Romero Alfonso, developed in the residency and supported by i-Portunus, EU Mobility Scheme for artists and cultural professionals.
