This is the comprehensive fee with no extra fees, and includes taxes, the Italian Tourist/Visitor tax, cleaning, and supply of linens/towels and other items related to the household. The artist must only provide personal supplies/items and food. Fees include the live/work space and other common living utilities and spaces. Kitchen, washing machine, etc is provided. The artist provides own meals, transport and supplies.

Description

L’appartamento Napoli is located in the heart of Naples, and was created as an artist residency that provides space for creatives looking to retreat from professional and daily pressures in order to explore, create, and return to inspiration.
Founded in 2019, the residency was established to provide an opening to the unique and inspirational southern Italian city, and allow the time for artists to research, create and be inspired by their time in the city.

2 and 4 (or more) week residency period are available to artists of most disciplines.

L’Appartamento provides a tranquil and supportive environment and workspace available for self-directed creative exploration, with a private studio/living space and shared facilities. The organisation of time is dictated entirely by the needs and desires of the artist-in-residence, with no pressure from the organiser, and your days may be spent exploring Naples and its surrounds, in conversation and discussions with the organiser or other residents, excursions, creative output, research or, should you need it, creative isolation. Downtime and privacy are afforded to all on the premises.

Outcome

No expectations are held towards the artist regarding output or exhibition of work, instead, consider your time there as an opportunity to fully explore your craft in a warm and supportive environment, and the chance to make new connections and relationships to carry with you.

The expectation is that the artist takes this opportunity to unplug from their daily life and use the time to explore their discipline, whether they have the need for much private time or are more inclined to engage.

Studio Information

Each residency space is a 25/30 square meter room, used as a private live/work studio space, and regular home amenities such as kitchen, bathroom etc are shared between host and artists. The smaller of the two private rooms includes a terrace of about the same dimension.

Accommodation Information

L’Appartamento is in an historic old palazzo (historic apartment building), and the space is thus quite grand. The common spaces of L'appartamento are shared and the apartment itself comprises 3 sleep/work rooms, 2 of those for residencies and one for the host, these being private live in/work studio spaces.
