The Casa de Belmonte residence fee is 330€ per week. This provides a private room with a desk, Wifi in all rooms and throughout the house all linen and towels, use of the communal kitchen, a library with a collection above 700 books (novels, poetry, history, architecture, design, cinema), a living room and access to a spacious roof terrace overlooking the village and the Mediterranean landscape of Mezquín river valley, ideal for nighttime with other artists, but that can also be used as workspace.

The fee also includes cleaning service at the beginning and end of the stay, the first day’s communal lunch and pick-up from Alcañiz station, if needed. The artist foresees for personal expenses. Annual grants are available. From 3 weeks-stay on please consult prices.

Application guidelines:

La Casa de Belmonte offers 3 literary residencies per year. The artist needs to send a summary of the narrative project, a narrative sample, and their contact info. The winners will explore and develop their projects during the residency. La Casa de Belmonte makes the initial shortlist of candidates, and a jury of renowned literary professionals will decide on the annual winners.

La Casa de Belmonte accommodates writers and artists from diverse global backgrounds, offering short and mid-term residencies. It provides a welcoming space for poets, novelists, playwrights, scriptwriters, journalists, translators, songwriters, and film directors seeking a refuge for their creative pursuits. The residency facilitates interactions among residents, with the local surroundings, and the community.

Additionally, La Casa de Belmonte annually extends an invitation to novel writers, granting them complimentary accommodations to facilitate their project development. This grant program spans from March to September each year.

The residency caters to individuals in search of a secluded writing environment surrounded by nature, along with opportunities for activities such as exploring natural pools and trekking. It offers an ideal setting for those seeking a slower pace of life and a place conducive to creativity.

Accommodation Information

The residency space is up for 4 artists with private working space and some communal working spaces (library, living room, roof terrace), as well as two bathrooms and kitchen with all basic household items included.
