Description

As a social enterprise, in KYKLart they create opportunities for artists—locally and internationally—to connect, collaborate, and produce work inspired by the Cycladic landscape. Through residencies, guided walks and artistic interventions in nature, audiovisual production, and educational activities, they foster practices that respect and respond to both the natural and social environment. They prioritize low-impact approaches, the use of natural materials, and meaningful engagement with local communities. At the core of everything they do lies a commitment to coexistence—where creativity evolves in balance with place, people, and ecosystem.

KYKLart invites artists, creators and interdisciplinary practitioners from Greece and abroad to apply for the COMMON GROUND Art & Nature Residency in Syros, Cyclades.
Set in the peaceful rural landscape of Pagos, a small agricultural settlement on the island of Syros, the residency offers a space for slowing down, reconnecting with nature and developing artistic work inspired by landscape, ecology and place. Pagos is located approximately 6 km from Ermoupoli, the island’s main town. It is served by public transport and is within walking distance from the beach village of Galissas — around 40 minutes on foot through the Cycladic landscape. Residents will stay for 8 days in a quiet house surrounded by trees, gardens and open natural space — an environment designed to support reflection, experimentation and creative focus.

They welcome proposals from artists working across different fields and practices. The organisers are are particularly interested in projects that:

  • engage meaningfully with landscape and environment
  • explore sustainability and coexistence
  • encourage reflection, participation or sensory experience
  • use low-impact and environmentally conscious approaches
Outcome

As part of the residency, participating artists are invited to create a site-specific artistic action, intervention or presentation connected to the relationship between art and the natural environment of Syros. The final outcome will be shared publicly through an one day open event, set in an outdoor natural setting on the island, such as traditional paths, beaches, hills, fields etc.
