A regular residency (for NL artists) includes 24-hour access to a furnished apartment and studio space, organizational guidance, artistic feedback, publicity, a working budget and a presentation at SYB.

Paid by artist:

Travel and subsistence costs for both residency types. For the Summer (international) residency, the artist is requested to pay a residency fee (1500€ for the 6 weeks programme).

  • a project plan in which the research, the aim, the method and the desired cooperation are defined

Description

Kunsthuis SYB is an Artist Residency based in Friesland, in the northern part of The Netherlands. SYB offers space, stimulus and support to artists and curators to deepen their practice through means of research, experiment and new collaborations.

Residents are not obliged to produce a fixed artwork but are encouraged to converse with professionals and scientists from different fields to broaden their network and research and to share their work process. Every resident is in dialogue with a member of SYB´s programming committee. The committee consists of artists, curators and art historians. SYB also works with a group of young art critics who will write a text or review about each residency.



There are two types of residencies:

  1. Residencies for visual artists, curators and artist initiatives living or working in the Netherlands.

  2. Summer residencies for foreign visual artists and initiatives.
