Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art
Located in Kansas City, Missouri, the Kemper Museum boasts a growing permanent collection of modern and contemporary art and presents 10–12 special exhibitions each year. The primary objectives of the Museum are to stimulate dialogue, to foster understanding and appreciation of modern and contemporary art, and to present significant works of art as educational resources. Each year, the Kemper Museum invites several exhibiting artists to participate as visiting artists. Each artist’s visit is different, and is defined by the artist’s process or media. Typical residency workshops involve groups scheduled for two-hour blocks of time during the three days prior to the artist’s opening exhibition at the Museum. The museum’s program allows area students to work directly with artists, in a variety of media. The Kemper Museum’s artists in residence also speak at their opening receptions, which are free and open to all.
