The residency fee ranges from $200 Canadian (approximately $185) for one week’s lodging with a shared bathroom to $1,300 Canadian (approximately $1,200) for six weeks in a private apartment.  Discounts are available for students and seniors. Only the residency fee is lifted for the bursary recipients - they still have to cover their travel and subsistence costs.

Application guidelines:

Residency applications are accepted on a rolling basis. To apply, please fill in the online application form.

Financial aid is available through the Jean Taranu Bursary, which covers half the fee for a month long residency. To apply for a bursary for an April/ May or October/ November residency, submit a 10-page work sample or 10 photogaphs or slides for visual artists, a curriculum vitae, a project description, and two letters of reference by February 15 or July 1. Description

The Residency is a non for profit organization geared to support international writers and artists in their creative endeavors. The biannual International Festivals held at the Residence in May and October of each year provide a meeting place for artists and writers of the world to present their work, enhancing the possibilities for further contacts and cooperation on a global scale.

Outcome

The writers/translators staying at the Centre are kindly asked to mention in their publication that their particular writing—or part of it—has been elaborated during their stay at the International Writers’ and Artists’ Residency – Val David, Quebec, Canada. A copy of this publication should be send to the Centre as soon as it is released. Furthermore, the Centre is going to publish in the future a selection of works written by its guests. Therefore, you are kindly asked to provide a poem or a piece of your work which has been completed during your stay at the Centre. The Editorial Board of the Centre will decide whether it will be included in the publication.

The house comprises a total of five bedrooms and a separate small apartment. There are large communal areas, living and sitting rooms, a terrace with a panoramic view, an extra large communal kitchen, free laundry facilities, lots of balconies and a large garden.

Shopping and other attractions are at a short distance. There is a ski resort within ten minutes' walking distance from the residence. Mount Tremblant can be reached by car or bus in 20 minutes. Val David is situated 75 km North of Montreal
