Gridchin Art Center is founded by Sergey Gridchin to realize original projects and ideas in the sphere of contemporary art and culture. The Art-Center functions on behalf of and under the auspices of Gridchinhall Contemporary Art Development Fund.
Gridchinhall is often called the art-dacha. Picnics, excursions, master-classes for children, painting and drawing lessons, meetings with artists, critics and curators are held here.
Gridchin Hall comprises of:
Exhibition hall: a modern building about 400 m2 in area, two exhibition galleries equipped with everything necessary to carry out projects presentations.
Art-residence: a studio where Russian and foreign artists live and work when preparing projects. The art-residence offers space, different from the one artists are used to, time for creative exploration, creation and demonstration of pieces of art. At the same time the art-residence is all about sharing creative experience, cross-cultural interaction, new impressions and meeting new people.
Dwelling-house: a village five-walled house from 1922, inbuilt into a new building and now surrounded by numerous additional buildings in the back yard.
Gridchin Hall is located 20 km from Moscow, in Dmitrovskoe, an exceptionally picturesque village is situated on the high bank of the Istra river. Arkhangelskoe country estate and Nikolina Gora, the village for the men of science and art, are situated not far from Gridchinhall. The exhibition hall is situated in the countryside and nature became an indispensable part of its exposition, and it is another prominent feature of Gridchinhall.
