Graves Mill Farm, founded in 2020, supports nonprofits through hospitality. They have been environmentally, agriculturally, culturally, and community focused. Starting this residency represents an extension of their outreach into the arts
The Graves Mill Farm Residency is a fully funded retreat for writers and visual artists at all stages of their careers. It seeks to inspire participants through the power of the natural world, and to foster creativity through both solitude and community.
They seek artists who are dedicated to their craft, and are eager to engage with nature. Participants can expect to work privately through the day, while also interacting daily in our communal spaces and at evening meals. Everyone is invited — but not required — to share their work. Participants are encouraged explore the 2,000-acre farm property, and adjoining forests, for inspiration in their work.

All meals provided: independent and communal dinners
Visual Artists housed in Farmhouse with individually keyed rooms, with access to a nearby single, private studio
Writers housed in private cottages or apartment which includes workspace with desk
Participants responsible for travel to and from residency
Pick up available from Culpeper Amtrak or Charlottesville Airport

This residency is for individual artists, no families or pets.
Studio Information
Private locked individual studio for each visual artist, plus communal spaces.
Private locked cottage/apartment for each writer, with space for working.

They do not supply artists materials, nor do they have any equipment.
