Glasgow Sculpture Studios supports a vibrant community of professional artists who focus on innovative sculptural techniques and practices. This wide-ranging community are at varying stages of their careers, from emergent and recent graduates through to established artists whose practice is recognised at the highest level. Residencies are aimed at contemporary visual artists, who are working nationally and/or internationally for whom a change of scenery might offer fresh inspiration; offering the artists a dedicated studio and access to all artists facilities and artists support programmes with a view to realising a major project or body of work that is disseminated as part of the public programme in the gallery. Research residencies support a writer, scholar, academic, curator or researcher working nationally and/or internationally, to support existing projects and the development of new ideas over a sustained period of time.


The integrated public programme consist of commissions, residencies, exhibitions, education and interpretation projects, which attract and inform significant audiences as well as providing artists with platforms and opportunities for debate and critique, as well as developing the discourse on contemporary sculptural practice.

Studio Information

There are many technical facilities available for art production at the centre. The assembly area is a 50 square meter open plan work area for large scale and floor-based production. The ceramics studio houses two medium sized kilns (1,300 degree max temp) and drying racks. The metal and wood workshop contains an extensive list of tools and equipment. There is also a separate plaster room and a resin room.


Glasgow Sculpture Studios is located in the West End of Glasgow just off Argyll Street.
