The organisers aim to create the best possible financial framework for the residency, and artists are expected to collaborate in this process.

Description

Since 2004, the Gelbes Haus has operated as a live-work studio space. Currently, 17 artists from various disciplines bring the house to life. It is a vibrant space for creative exchange, collaboration, idea generation, and experimentation. The unique atmosphere blends art with everyday life, encouraging residents to pursue their interests, deepen their work, and draw inspiration from the community.
The Gelbes Haus spans three floors, featuring living and working spaces, a large garden, an event room, and a workshop. Currently, the house hosts seven resident artists and provides ten work studios. This co-living, co-working concept reflects our belief in the importance of both artistic and personal exchange.

From November 1, 2025, to January 30, 2026, the studio co-operative Gelbes Haus Lucerne is offering a 3-month residency for one artist. The residency provides international artists with a dedicated living and working space, the opportunity to develop their artistic projects in a focused environment, and a platform to engage with local artists and the art scene.

Accommodation Information

The selected artist will have access to a private working/living space (21m²). Additionally, a larger shared room in the basement (28m²) can be made available when required. Kitchen, bathroom, and communal areas are shared with the other residents of the Gelbes Haus.

Location

Lucerne is a small city in central Switzerland, located near the Alps and the Vierwaldstättersee (Lake Lucerne). With a population of 80,000, it is just one hour from Zurich, Bern, and Basel.
