Gate27
Gate 27 is an international residency program established in 2019 to facilitate the research and production processes of different practices and to provide a platform for interdisciplinary interaction. Treating art as a research method, Gate 27 invites artists, researchers and academics to establish a dialogue around ecology, sustainability, accessibility and local creative networks.
Gate 27 encourages the formation of new collaborations with the public programs and events it organizes. Gate 27 provides a calm working environment where residents can transform their ideas into production process, and facilitates access to various resources and individuals to deepen their research. Participants become part of a wide and ever-growing network of artists and researchers who have been residents in the program. Gate 27 hosts artists and researchers in its guest houses in Istanbul and Ayvalık.
Gate 27 İstanbul offers an entry into the vibrant cultural life of Istanbul especially for emerging and established artists who reside outside of Istanbul and provides a quiet production space in nature where they can observe the city from a peaceful distance.
Gate 27 Ayvalık aims to create an experience that nurtures conceptual research and production for artists and researchers who focus on the process rather than results.
