Since 1988 the residency has offered space for focused creative work and personal retreat, while cultivating lively exchange in a close-knit atmosphere, through shared dinners and studio visits open to professionals and the public. Local and global perspectives converge here: the house is as closely linked to the international art scene as it is to the people, languages, mountain landscape, and history of the Lower Engadine. Housed in a historic bathhouse on the banks of the River Inn and surrounded by mountains, the residency brings together nine cultural practitioners and thinkers from diverse disciplines to live and work under one roof. Residencies at this former health resortwhere purification and healing were once central, last between two and ten months and take place from February to November. Cooking together in the evenings is as much a part of the Fundaziun Nairs DNA as the interdisciplinary collaborations and lasting friendships formed here. It's a place for contemplation, concentration, and in-depth engagement with the artistic, intellectual, and societal questions.
