Fox House
Fox House
Fox House is a free artist residency based in Himeji, a relaxed, mid-sized city in Japan. It provides artists with a comfortable home base where they can focus on their creative work while experiencing everyday life in Japan.
Residents are free to work independently, with no required outcome or finished project. At the same time, they are encouraged to connect with the local community and take part in the environment around Fox House and Fox English.
The residency is designed to be simple and flexible: there are no strings attached, no programme of required activities, and no expectation that residents produce work for Fox House.
Fox House does not require a specific finished work or formal outcome. The aim of the residency is to give artists time, space, and freedom to focus on their practice, develop new ideas, and experience life in Japan. We hope residents leave with meaningful creative progress, new perspectives, and connections with the local community that may continue beyond their stay.
