FJs Residency
The F Project Precinct (in Warrnambool, Australia) includes an Art Gallery showing 12 exhibitions annually, and a Retail Shop offering original works from over 50 local artisans, writers and musicians. The gallery and shop are open Wednesday through Sunday staffed by volunteers. The F Project Arts Precinct has Studio spaces for about 20 individual artists and a workshop space for artists to teach regular art classes. They also run a film society, workshops, artists’ markets and an annual outdoor Christmas Party.
They have a current membership of 220 paid members and more than 700 newsletter subscribers. Over the past ten years, The F Project has been a positive force in shaping the cultural and creative life in the South West Victorian community.
The purpose of the F Project is to support contemporary art practice, the development of local artists through professional development, and the creative exploration of social issues and engagement with our diverse community through challenging, meaningful arts projects that contribute to individual and community development.
Artists participating in this sponsored residency will have opportunities to meet new audiences through participation in public programs and open studios; commissioning of original online content such as interviews and artist profiles; and connections to our community of volunteers, peers, collaborators and supporters.
As well as the extensive residence, there is a beautiful mature garden for artists to enjoy. Art studios, workshops, printing press and gallery spaces may also be available by arrangement.
The residence features a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, sunroom, bathroom and shower room on the ground floor, with four large bedrooms, a bathroom and an additional living room upstairs, all with soaring ceilings and vintage fixtures. It has six beds and sleeps nine, although options are available for parties of ten and over.
The residency welcomes artists worldwide to stay in Victoria, Australia's picturesque and historical southwest corner. You will live and work on the traditional lands of the Peek Whurrong and Gunditjmara people of the Maar Nation.
The regional city of Warrnambool is the hub of the Southwest Coastal Region, whose varied natural landscapes have long inspired artists – from the shipwreck coastline to volcanic Tower Hill and beyond.
The F Project arts centre is situated in the heart of Warrnambool, within walking distance to the beach, train station, Warrnambool Art Gallery, the Lighthouse Theatre, Capital Cinema, Southwest TAFE, and an abundance of shops, cafes and restaurants.
