Farm Art
Farm Art
Farm Art is a small-scale, self-directed artist residency located in the rural village of Bellingwolde, in the north of the Netherlands.
Farm Art is a living, working place shaped by care, attention, and shared responsibility.
It offers artists time and space for rest, research, experimentation, and reflection, away from urban rhythms and institutional structures. Residencies are self-guided and may be entirely process-based, without the requirement of a final outcome.
Farm Art recognizes our reliance and interconnectedness to nature. Artists are invited outside of the urban environment to engage and learn from her. The hope is for the mending of our cognitive dissonance, both collective and individual by fostering connection, care and
community.
Stays at Farm Art are characterised by the rural setting, immersion into nature and proximity to the German border. Visitors are hosted in small, well equiped huts in the garden. The property is surrounded by industrial farmlands, and contrasting with this is the small-scale food production of the garden. Participants are encouraged to engage with the local (non) human community thus creating a space for trust-building and voluntary interactions.
Farm Art hosts one artist at a time.
Residencies are self-guided and may be entirely process-based, without the requirement of a final outcome.
Artists stay in a simple, insulated garden hut with a wood-burning stove, surrounded by a working garden.
There are simple cooking facilities, small fridge, compost toilet, hot water and bicycle for residents use.
