Application guidelines:

To apply, artists need to send:

  • curriculum vitae and portfolio of the artist.
  • application form (download).
  • 1 (one) 3x4 cm photography.
  • copy of the regulation form fulfilled and signed, initialed on all pages (download).
  • 2 (two) letters of recommendation signed by professionals of the area and sent to [email protected] by the referees or mailed directly to Residencia Artistica FAAP in a sealed envelope.
  • project to be developed which includes: purpose, description, material and human needs, schedule and any other relevant and useful information for the understanding of the proposal.
  • proposed interaction among artist, FAAP and the community (eg.: workshops, classes, lectures, exhibitions, visits, partnerships).
  • period of residence: 2 to 6 months.
  • Payment of registration fee of R$75 or US$50.

Description

The Lutetia building is home to FAAP´s artistic residence program for Brazilian and foreign artists, overseas or outside São Paulo State, active in the arts, communication, or architecture. Selected artists spend a number of months in one of the ten large studios in the building, developing their artistic projects and conveying their experiences and knowledge to students and professors at the foundation.

Outcome

Artists are expected to lead workshops or classes.

Accommodation Information

10 studio units (69m2 or 79m2) fully refurbished, with private facilities. Lutetia Building housekeeping staff will clean the studios once a week following a schedule established by FAAP and posted in each area.

Location

FAAP residency programme takes place in the Lutetia building, restored as part of the process of rehabilitating the former glamour of downtown São Paulo. The building is located in Praça do Patriarca, which was once the heart of what is known as the Old City Center.
