They are a non-profit cultural association, the residency fee is intended to cover 60% of the cost of the programme's total general operating expenses. The remaining 40% is covered by the Ey!Studio Association.
The organisers are happy to write letters of recommendation and invitation for the resident to apply for grants in their home country, once the application is accepted and the booking fee has been paid.

Description

The residency programme #Ey!Studio is designed to provide the ideal environment for artistic creation in Madrid. The residencies are for artists and curators (collectives are not accepted) of any nationality and age who do not live in Madrid, Spain. Since 2017, 46 artists have shown their work in #Ey!Studio from national and international backgrounds such as the United States, Italy, Brazil, Russia, Portugal, Chile, Colombia, Argentina, etc.
The residency offers:

  • Materials and tools for common use.
  • Workspace.
  • Accommodation.
  • A guide with places of interest, as well as specialised art shops, restaurants, etc.
  • Promotion and dissemination of the resident on social networks.
  • Becoming part of an artist's archive.
  • 1 tab on the Ey!Studio website with the project developed.
  • A video with an interview that will be promoted on social networks.
  • Exhibition or performance space.
  • Small library specialising in art, aesthetics and critical thinking as well as art catalogs.
  • Weekly general cleaning service of the studios.
  • If the resident requests it, accompaniment and advice.

The minimum stay is 2 weeks, and the maximum stay is 3 months (for longer stays, please consult them). Applications are accepted from all artistic and creative disciplines, visual arts, dance, performing arts, music, architecture, literature, etc., although the area of preference is visual arts and socially engaged projects.

Outcome

The artist is given the opportunity to make an Open Studio with the results of the new work resulting from his/her stay together with the rest of the residents.

Studio Information
  • Office: The 40 m2 space is air-conditioned and has a large dining table and an armchair for relaxing, reading, etc. The office is equipped with a fridge, microwave, two induction hobs, capsule coffee machine, kettle, toaster, and other kitchen utensils. They do not have a washing machine, although there is a laundry 9 minutes from the studio).
  • Polyvalent Space: A 40 m2 multi-purpose space. This space can be used for workshops, exhibitions, video viewings, visits by professionals, presentations of publications, etc. (If Space 3 does not have a resident artist, depending on availability, it can be used as a workspace by the other resident artists without additional payment).

Location

The residency is located in Carabanchel, a district in a full cultural boom, known as the "Soho of Madrid", where a total of 160 artists are currently working in approximately 40 studios, as well as art galleries and the Matadero Art Centre. The residency is next to Madrid Río, a leisure and recreational area around the Manzanares River, as well as being only 20 minutes from the city center by public transport.
